The tune which everyone missed….

A small tune of a flute can be a falling leaf. The most important thing is, you have to be alert. If you are not, you will miss it.

I remember an incidence which happened two years ago. I can remember Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia seating on the stage. Taking a sound check just before beginning the concert. On stage, dignitaries were being felicitated. Mr A was felicitated by Mr. B and yes, Mr. B by Mr. A. People were clapping. For them concert was yet to begin. But, this is the beauty, that the concert never starts and it never ends, it is there. You have to be always listening.

A very small yet most lovely tune was played by Hariprasad Ji. I don’t know if anyone even noticed it. Everyone was clapping. This tune was missed. I was there for the whole concert. Today, what I remember, is that tune….nothing else….

The Falling Leaf

Lao Tsu was enlightened just by the appearance of a falling leaf. The leaf had lied its life. There was no wind. So, it was perfect time for the leaf to fall down. It was the perfect time for the wind to stop and also, it was also perfect time for a leaf named Lao Tsu to fall down, to be detached from the trunk.

The falling leaf is a gratitude towards all such leaves. leaves which fell down and also leaves, which helped other leaves to fall down. The leaf which is going to help you can be anything. It can be a song, a stroke of brush, a crying child, a kite cut away from the thread, a Haiku by Basho, A flute, A sitar, a sleeping dog…….

The falling leaf is a gratitude towards all such leaves.
